Options for the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service

Originally there were two options proposed by the Isle of Wight Council for the future of the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service following the 'Fire Options Appraisal' document prepared by a consultant (see below):

a) Full merger with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.

b) Greater collaboration with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Subsequently, in November 2006, a further option has been added by the Isle of Wight Council:

c) Status-quo: further modernisation and a closer working relationship with various Fire Services; to quote 'to remain under the Isle of Wight Council but continue to modernise and make efficiency savings'..
